Apple has now confirmed that the exclusive carrier of the iPhone UK will be Telefónica's O2 Telecommunications. Telefónica's O2 Telecommunications offers three different iPhone plans for the UK market. The least expensive plan costs £35 per month and includes 200 minutes and 200 SMS. Even with the cheapest £35 plan, you will get unlimited data, unlimited WiFi and free Voicemail. When it comes to roaming, there are special roaming rates with ITS. If you want more minutes and more SMS, the next step up among the iPhone plans UK is the £45 plan. This plan includes 600 minutes and 500 SMS, and naturally comes with free WiFI and Voicemail, and unlimited data. There will be special roaming rates with ITS. For the really heavy users, the largest UK O2 iPhone plan offers no less than 1200 minutes. This plan costs £55 but you only get 500 SMS, just as with the £45 plan. Voicemail and WiFi are free, and there is no data limit. As per usual, there are special roaming rates with ITS. Even though WiFi and data usage are free and unlimited with all the O2 iPhone plans UK, a fair usage policy will apply regardless of which plan you pick.
The starter package for the iPhone will be available on November 9, 2007, and cost £900. This starter package will include the price of the iPhone – which is £269 – and a minimum 18-month long contract with O2 at £35.
